Abstract

Ceramic articles 19 on conveyer tables 20 passing from a moulding apparatus (not shown) are held by members 5 so that they do not slip from the table when the latter is tilted into a vertical position (Fig. 5, not shown) during dwell periods in the conveyer movement, so as to dump scraps of moulding material (not shown). The table 20 is tilted by the action of a member 6 carried by a frame 4 on which the members 5 are also mounted. The frame 4 is mounted in pivots on a frame 1 which is itself pivotally mounted on the fixed machine frame 4. The frame 1 is periodically rocked by the action of a cam 17 and linkage 13 to 16, operating in synchronism with the conveyer. At the end of the return movement from the fully rocked position, a follower 8 on a crank 7 rigid with the frame 4, engages a cam 9 so as to lift frame 4 into a position in which the members 5, 6, are raised clear from the articles 19 and table 20.
