Abstract

1,142,219. Piston rod seals. KUGELFIS C H E R G E O R G SCHAFER & CO. 11 Dec., 1967 [13 Feb., 1967], No. 56161/67. Heading F2B. In a seal for the piston rod 6 of an hydraulic master cylinder comprising two sealing rings 7, 8 separated by a spacing ring 9, the inner sealing ring 7 has a smaller external diameter than the outer ring 8. The rings are retained in position by a circlip 16, the ring 9 abutting a shoulder 10 in the cylinder end wall. The space between the sealing rings 7, 8 is vented to atmosphere through a passage 12 in the ring 9 and passages 11 and 13 in the cylinder housing 1.
