Abstract

1,136,936. Axial-flow blowers. COMPAGNIE ELECTRO-MECANIQUE. March 29, 1966 [April 12, 1965], No. 13823/66. Heading F1C. An axial-flow blower having at least two impellers 1A, 1B is passed through an aperture in a wall 9 into the interior of a fluid-tight enclosure, e.g. a nuclear reactor. The aperture is sealed at 8 by a portion of the blower casing. Impeller shaft 2 is driven through a shaft 6 and is supported by a pair of gas bearings 3, 4 utilizing the blown gas. One or both of the bearings may be arranged externally of the impellers.
