Abstract

1,002,960. Axial-flow blowers. GLOBE INDUSTRIES Inc. Oct. 3, 1961 [Feb. 1, 1961], No. 35675/61. Heading F1C. In a multi-stage motor-driven blower, at least one of the stages comprises a number of arcuate segments carrying aligned stator blades on their inner surfaces, the segments being pivotally interlocked with one another and with the main casing of the blower. The main casing 2 houses the driving motor 16 and comprises a flow passage 26 and the stator blades of the third stage. The stator vanes 92 of the first stage are carried by three arcuate segments 91, 93, 95, the stator vanes 74 of the third stage being carried by three arcuate segments 64. The segments are secured to the main casing 2 by screws 66 which pass through lugs 68, 70 and extensions 72 and are threaded into bosses 8, 10, 12 provided on the periphery of the main casing 2. Concentricity is assured by stepped flanges 22, 86 and 88, 94. Impeller blades 45, 47, 49 are carried by rings 44, 46, 48 shrunk on to the impeller hub 34. These rings are identical, each having a step 50, 52 or 54, although only the step 50 is needed. Spacer rings 56, 58 are provided, the latter having a hole 60 for access to a set screw 32.
