Abstract

1,134,597. Valve holders. AMP Inc. 26 May, 1967 [15 June, 1966], No. 24565/67. Heading H2E. A valve holder body 1 has contact-housing cavities 7 formed in a central boss 4 and communicating, through slots 10, with channels which are defined between pairs of projections 9. The boss 4 has a central aperture 5 with a locating groove 6 for the inserted valve base, the cavities 7 being of triangular cross-section with guiding surfaces 8 for the valve pins P. Triangular socket portions 13 of contacts 2 have springy retaining tongues 17 which engage shoulders (12, Figs. 2-4, not shown) in the cavities 7, the contacts 2 being formed from metal blanks and having transverse webs 14 which are crimped to conductors 15 and which lie in the channels defined by the projections 9. Apertures (11) are provided in the rear of the body 1 for insertion of test probes and contactreleasing tools (18). In a modification (Fig. 7, not shown) two apertures (11<SP>11</SP> and 17) in the rear of the body 1 communicate with each cavity 7, one aperture (17) being for insertion of a test probe and the aperture (11<SP>11</SP>) being T- shaped for receiving the tool (18). In a further modification (Fig. 6, not shown), the projections 9 direct the conductors 15 to a common location.
