Abstract

1,134,278. Degreasing apparatus. UDDEHOLMSA.B. Nov.9, 1967 [Nov.14, 1966], No.51113/67. Heading C7E. A degreasing apparatus comprises as shown in Fig. a container 1 for a liquid solvent such as a chlorinated hydrocarbon 2, electric heating elements 3 for boiling the solvent, double walls 5a and 5b surrounding the upper part of the apparatus with water sprays 12 spraying water in the space between the double walls and a suction fan connected to inlet 19. Partition 6 divides the space into spaces 7 and 8 the water being sprayed into space 7 and air entering via slot 16 passes down space 8 and up through space 7. The moist air is then sucked out via 19. The water level in the space is kept constant by float 13 and valve 14 and pump 10 supplies the water to sprays 12. The solvent vapour flowing over wall 18 is condensed on wall 56 and flows back to the boiler via water separator and alkalisor 20. According to the embodiment of Fig. 2 (not shown) the double walled space is not divided by a partition and the supply of water to the sprays is controlled by a thermostat which actuates a magnetic relay.
