Abstract
1,261,423. Degreasing apparatus. UDDEHOLMS A.B. Sept.16, 1969 [Feb.4, 1969], No.45634/69. Heading C7E. Artreles 12 on a perforated base 4, which may be a roller conveyer, are degreased by boiling a solvent in a chamber 2, causing the vapour to condense on the articles and run back into the chamber with dissolved grease. When the articles have reached the temperature of the vapour, a thermostat 21 opens a valve 19 to cause cooling water to flow through pipes 16 which causes solvent vapour to condense and flow down on to the articles to give them a further cleaning. A timer 22 then emits a signal to close the valve 19, and start a motor 7 to lift the lid 11 from the articles. Movement of the lid trips a switch 27 to cause cooling liquid to be supplied to a wall 9a of a liquid lock to condense solvent vapour, and lower the level of the vapour to openings 10. Air is drawn in through a pipe 29. When the lid clears the articles, they are removed and replaced by further articles, the lid being lowered and the cycle restacted. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) instead of supplying coolant to the wall 9a a cooler is provided in the chamber beneath the base 4, and the solvent is pumped through spray nozzles located above the articles. The top of the lid 11 is provided with an active carbon filter, which may be cleaned by steam, and a ventilation drum surrounds the liquid lock at the bottom of the lid. In both modifications the spraying device may be fixed to the top of the lid. The lid may also operate a switch to ensure that the solvent heater is only operated when the lid is in position.
