Abstract

113,160. Lights of London, Ltd., and Docking, A. Feb. 28, 1917. Fluid-actuated valves; closure members, compound.-Relates to apparatus for supplying a mixture of gas and air and of the kind described in Specification 18130/10 in which the two gases are drawn in by means of a rotary compressor through two inlets controlled by independent valves, these inlet valves and the by-pass valve which controls the circulation of the mixture to compensate for the partial closing of the inlet valves being all connected to and controlled by a diaphragm which is subject to the service pressure. The gas and air inlets are now controlled by a single diaphragm-controlled valve which is adjustable to increase the area of one inlet and decrease that of the other, and means is provided for independently adjusting the area of the port in connexion with the by-pass valve. The vertical cylindrical mixing chamber G is fitted with a liner M formed with gas and air inlets H, J which are controlled by a hollow cylindrical piston-valve N operated by a diaphragm F in a chamber E, which com. municates by a small port C' with a chamber C situated above the compressor A and connected bv a branch D to the service pipe B. The valve N slides on a vertical spindle O which is adjustable angularly to cause the valve N to vary the effective width of its ports N', N<2>. The pipe L leading from the outlet K of the chamber G to the compressor A is connected to the pipe B by a by-pass valve D<1>, which is carried under the chamber C and fitted with a cylindrical valve R operated by the stem F<1> of a diaphragm F. The liner S in which the valve R works can be ad. justed angularly in the valve casing Q, or be raised and lowered by means of a screw S<2> to regulate the area of the port S<1>.
