F i x e d - abutment type; compensating for irregularity of flow; governing pumps.-Relates to apparatus for mixing air and gas of the type in which the air and gas inlets are controlled by a single slide-valve operated by the service pressure. A rotary compressor A forces the air and gas into a chamber J, in which is a diaphragm K which operates a slide valve through the lever M. The valve is shown in Fig. 3. The gas inlet F is formed in a sliding piece F<1>, which can be adjusted in position from outside the apparatus so as to regulate the flow of gas. A supplementary port H provides for the admission of air for starting the compressor. Ports P, P<1> govern a by-pass O which returns the mixture to the inlet side of the compressor in the event of the pressure becoming excessive,
