Abstract
19,828. Auld & Sons, D., Auld, J., and Graham, J.. Sept. 16. Actuating; pressure-regulating valves.-Consists in certain combinations of control, main, reducing, and regulating valves for torpedo launching forming a compact device as follows. The pilot control or firing-valve 3 controlled by a spring 24 is opened by a lever 25 to exhaust the chamber 17 at the back of the main valve 2, which is also controlled by a spring 18. The main valve then opens and allows high-pressure air from the inlet 15 to pass to a reducing-valve 1, which is controlled by a spring 14 and by the air pressure in a cylinder 12. The regulating-valve 26 is controlled by springs 31. 34 and by a diaphragm 32 subjected to the pressure in the outlet 37 through a pipe 36, to admit or to shut off high-pressure air from a port 29 to the cylinder 12. The inlet 15 is connected to the high-pressure air reservoir, and the outlet 37 to the torpedo tube.
