1,131,430. Hammers; handle fixings. U. MATTHEY. 2 Feb., 1966 [21 Sept., 1965], No. 4564/66. Headings B4C and B4K. A hammer comprises a head having at least a part 7 made of metal and formed with an opening 8 and a handle 1 having an end portion 2 adapted to correspond with the opening, a space 14 formed by the end of the handle and the head being filled with a thermoplastic material. The head is provided with a striking surface formed by a portion 18 of a synthetic plastics material and secured to the head by means of a rod 16 and a screw 21. Striking surfaces having different hardnesses may be provided and distinguished by different colours.
