Abstract

1,131,320. Shaft couplings. M. CIOFI. 22 Nov., 1966 [30 Nov., 1965], No. 52175/66. Heading F2U. [Also in Division D1] In an arrangement for driving the shaft 8B of a comb 8 with an oscillatory motion for removing the web from the doffer of a carding engine the end 7A of the output shaft 7 of the control box is hollow and provided with slots 7B so that it can encircle the shaft 8B of the comb and be clamped thereto by a resilient band 16 encircling end 7A and being tightened by a bolt 16A. The output shaft 7 and input shaft 6 of the control box are mounted in bearings 4, 5, 10A, 10B, the bearings 10A, 10B being carried in a cover 9 which is removably bolted to the main portion 1A of the control box. To dismantle the control box bolt 16A is released and the cover 9 unbolted and drawn away carrying the shaft 6, 7 and their bearings for further dismantling.
