Abstract
1,129,443. Forced flow vapour generators. COMBUSTION ENG. Inc. 4 Nov., 1966 [1 Dec., 1965], No. 49644/66. Heading F4A. A forced flow supercritical steam generator 10 comprising a rectangular furnace chamber 11, a horizontal gas pass 22, and a rear gas pass 26, has an economizer 59 in the rear gas pass, from which fluid is passed by pump 64 to inlet header 54. From inlet header 54, three parallel fluid flow circuits extend to outlet header 44. The first circuit comprises welded panel front furnace wall tubes 13, mixing headers 65 and 66 and roof tubes 42. The second circuit comprises welded panel furnace side wall tubes 18, and side wall upper headers 68, and then either conduit 69, horizontal gas pass side wall lower headers 70, tube panels 24 and upper headers 72, or conduit 73, rear gas pass side wall lower header 74, tube panels 28 and upper headers 75. The third circuit comprises welded panel furnace rear wall tubes 16 which continue as the tubes 35 covering nose arch 31, and then become the tubes 37 covering the bottom 36 of horizontal gas pass 22 and leading to header 39. From header 39 the third circuit splits into three subcircuits the first of which is formed by header 48, hanger tubes 46 which are used to support through steel rods 47 the tubes 16 of the furnace rear wall, and header 76. The second subcircuit comprises rear gas pass front wall lower header 78, wall tubes 53, further hanger tubes 50 which are extensions of and support tubes 53 and upper header 79. The third sub-circuit also comprises header 78, thence conduit 80 and rear gas pass rear wall lower header 82, and tube panels 30. From outlet header 44 the fluid passes to superheater 32 and subsequently reheater 33. Part of the flow from header 44 may be passed to mixing vessel 62 to be mixed with the fluid from economizer 59 for recirculation through the circuits.
