Abstract

548,519. Refrigerating. PAYNE, C. A. Sept. 9, 1941, No. 11505. [Classes 29 and 64 (iii)] Absorption machines.-The generator of a continuous cycle system comprises a series of upright liquor tubes h having spaced flattened portions h<1> angularly displaced, so that convection currents in the liquid are restricted and only weak liquor reaches the bottom chamber c, whence it is delivered to the absorber by a pipe k. The tubes may be fitted internally with rods I. The strong liquor is supplied to a gallery j at the top of a vapour chamber d, above which is a rectifier e containing a filling of small solid bodies g. The generator may be heated by steam passed through a shell a, or by a burner &c. below the chamber c, the products of combustion being passed through the shell around the tubes. The weak liquor pipe is formed as a coil tube heat exchanger k<1> in the vapour chamber.
