Abstract
1,057,705. Steam generators. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. Feb. 4, 1965 [Feb. 4, 1964], No. 4766/64. Heading F4A. A vapour generator 17 is heated by a coil 19 forming the heat-emitting part of a high pressure closed circuit including heat - absorbing tubes 3, 12 heated by a burner 16, a pump 9, and a pressurizer vessel 11 containing nitrogen or other inert gas under pressure, to maintain the pressure in the closed circuit above the vapour pressure of the liquid and prevent cavitation. The heat absorbing part of the closed circuit includes wall tubes 12 of a combustion chamber 13 heated by the burner 16 and convection tubes 14 in the gas uptake. The heat emitting tubes 19 are immersed in the liquid to be evaporated supplied at 25. A heating coil may be provided in the pressurizer vessel 11 controlled by the load on the vapour generator to prevent the pressure falling to a level permitting cavitation.
