Abstract

1,127,486. Ladle stoppers; feeding material to ladles. EDGAR ALLEN & CO. Ltd., and CARDINAL STEELS Ltd. 28 Feb., 1967 [1 March, 1966], No. 8871/66. Heading F4B. [Also in Division B3] Particulate material is introduced into molten metal flowing from a ladle or tundish through a tube 6 sheathed with refractory 9 to form a stopper for the ladle. The sealing surface of the stopper is formed on a nozzle 7 which projects beyond the sealing surface to introduce the particulate material into the centre of an annular stream of metal. A hopper 15 may be mounted on the upper end of the stopper rod, a slide valve 16 controlling the flow of particulate material, or the particulate material may be fed from a remote hopper to the upper end of the tube.
