Abstract
1,143,515. Pouring nozzles for molten metal containers. VESUVIUS CRUCIBLE CO. 2 June, 1967 [24 March, 1967], No. 25694/67. Heading F4B. A ladle 2, or tundish 3 for holding molten metal, is equipped with the bottom pouring nozzle 4, or 5, respectively, which has a downwardly extending externally threaded portion 8, to which one end of a further elongated member 10 may be releasably secured, to further confine the molten metal after passage through the nozzle. The other end of member 10 dips under the surface of molten metal in the vessel into which the metal is being poured. In a modification, a bayonet slot connection between the nozzle and elongated member may replace the screw-thread connection.
