1,127,172. Joint-making packing; pressureresisting doors. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. 21 Jan., 1966 [21 Jan., 1965], No. 2711/65. Headings F2B and F2P. [Also in Division G6] A seal between, for example, a plug 11 and a standpipe 10 of a gas-cooled nuclear reactor comprises a resilient sealing ring 13 of T-shaped cross-section which is arranged to fit loosely within a peripheral groove 12 in the plug of T-shaped cross-section and be compressed by fluid pressure against one side 14 of the groove and outwardly against the wall of the standpipe. The seal may be made of silicone rubber and provided with a V-shaped notch 13A around its inner surface to assist assembly.
