Abstract

1,126,403. X-ray apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 4 May, 1966 [7 May, 1965], No. 19692/66. Heading H5R. [Also in Division H2] X-ray apparatus comprises an oil-filled envelope containing the X-ray tube, a highvoltage transformer therefore and also a resistor having a negative temperature coefficient arranged within heat-insulating material. The resistor is connected in the supply circuit of the tube in such a manner as to maintain the total resistance of the circuit constant with changes in temperature. The heat-insulating material may be an oil- or epoxy resin-filled tube made of resin-impregnated paper. The resistance characteristics of the resistor may be modified with one or more linear resistors connected in series or parallel, alternatively two negative temperature resistors combined with a linear resistor in parallel and diodes can be used to maintain the total resistance constant, see Figs. 1-7 (not shown).
