Abstract

1,082,872. Moisture meters. OPTILLINEN TEHDAS O.Y. Jan. 26, 1965, No.3376/65. Heading G1N. The moisture content of a material, such as grain, is determined by placing the material in contact with a capacitor M thereby varying its loss coefficient, and its dielectric constant and hence its capacitance, and then detecting by a meter A the change in current flowing in an oscillator circuit comprising a transistor T, the capacitor M, and an inductance L; the D. C. supply to the oscillator being variable by a potentiometer P to adjust the sensitivity of the device. The oscillator also includes resistors R2, R3, and capacitors C1, C2 and a feedback capacitor C. The meter A is calibrated in terms of moisture content, and the scale may be made non linear by, for example, coupling a resonant circuit into the oscillator circuit.
