Abstract

1,122,839. Fastening devices; pivoted windows &c. AUG. STENMAN A.B. 9 Dec., 1966 [23 Dec., 1965], No. 55247/66. Headings E1J and E2A. Fastening means for pivoted doors or windows comprises a flange 6 pivotally connected to a casement 2 and extending along the length thereof, a handle 16 for rotating the flange 6 from a window fastening position in which it engages a reinforcing stop 10 in a groove 8 in a stationary frame 1 to a releasing position at right angles thereto disengaging the groove, the flange 6 being mounted to pivot about a vertical axis 4 extending along the length of the casement and being one of two flanges 5, 6 of a hinge, the flange 5 being secured to the edge of the pivoted casement 2. The handle 16 is connected to one of a pair of intermeshing gear wheels 17 each connected by a link 19 and universal joints connecting it with a bracket 21 secured to the flange 6. The hinge flange 6 may be extended at each end and the stationary frame may have recesses aligned with the groove 8 whereby in the closing position of the window the end portions of the flange 6 engage in the recesses. The flange 6 makes sealing engagement with the strip 10 in the groove 8.
