Abstract

1,122,747. Lamp caps. BRITISH LIGHTING INDUSTRIES Ltd. 25 July, 1967 [4 Aug., 1966], No. 35028/66. Heading H2E. [Also in Division H1] A tungsten-halogen lamp consists of a tubular envelope 1 enclosing a single coil filament 2, the lead-in wires 6, 7 of which extend through the ends of the envelope which are brought together and secured to a common base 4. The envelope is preferably U-shaped, the ends being closed by pinches which are cemented in a channel shaped cap 4, the pinches resting on the end walls 4<SP>1</SP> of the channel. The wires 6 are connected to pins 8 on the cap, one directly and one by way of a fuse 9. Tungsten spirals 3 support the filament in the envelope at intervals along its length. Instead of pins 8, other forms of connector such as a screw cap may be used. The envelope may contain argon, with an addition of iodine.
