Abstract

1,059,473. Electric incandescent lamps with built-in fuses. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 26, 1964 [June 20, 1963], No. 21812/64. Heading H1F. A compact electric lamp comprises a tubular envelope 1 enclosing a longitudinal coiled-coil tungsten filament 3 having a short source length (defined as the distance between the ends of the coiled part of the filament which produces most of the light emitted from the lamp) operating at a voltage of more than 60 volts per inch of source length, a filling of inert gas and iodine and lead-in conductors 5, 9 having foliated portions 5a, 8 enclosed in pinch seals 2, preferably of I-shaped cross-section, the part 5a terminating in a spud 6 engaging in the interior of one end 4 of the filament, the other end of which is connected by a straight leg part 7 of the filament to the part 8 and which is formed as a fuse.
