Abstract

1469968 Electric incandescent lamps GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 21 June 1974 [1 Aug 1973] 27757/74 Heading H1F A coiled coil filament 13 is connected at one end to a spud 14 which is embedded in a pinch seal 18 in electrically insulating relationship to a lead-in conductor 19, 20, the electrical path being completed by a fuse 25 having a coiled portion 26 fitted over the spud and a leg portion 27 attached to the lead-in conductor. In the preferred embodiment the lamp has a tubular glass or quartz envelope 11 with a pinch seal at both ends, and the other end of the filament is connected to a further spud which is joined to a lead-in conductor either directly or through a second fuse. The coiled portion 26 of each fuse has at least one, and preferably at least five, turns some of which may be welded to the spud. The fuse and spud may be made of tungsten, the spud having a threaded end adapted to be screwed into the filament coil.
