1,119,463. Hinges for covers. GPE CONTROLS, Inc. 10 Jan., 1967 [2 March, 1966], No. 1285/67. Heading E2F. [Also in Division F2] A floating closure, e.g. for a liquid storage tank, comprises a cover 20 (with a flexible seal 23) having a hinge member 30 which consists of a recessed plate, the recesses 36 and 38 fitting over vertical pillars 32 and 34 attached to the body of the tank. The part of the plate in which the recesses are located is set at an angle α (less than 90‹) relative to the vertical with the cover in the "closed'' position and the recesses are of such width (1 2 ) that, with the cover in the closed position, they fit over the pillars with little clearance, but when the cover opens, this clearance is increased. Pins 42 and the spring handle 44 limit the movement of the cover, the spring handle being detachable so that the cover may be removed.
