Abstract

1,020,511. Vehicle roof racks. E. S. BUCKLEY. July 22, 1963 [Aug. 4, 1962], No. 30102/62. Heading B7J. A vehicle roof luggage rack comprises a closed container 11, Figs. 1, 2 and 3, provided with a pair of closures 12 hinged at 15 to the top of the container, a sponge rubber sealing member 14 being provided around each of the openings, the body of the container also having a channel 13 around the top and sides of each opening outside the sealing member and partly overlapped by the closure 12. The container, which may be made of fibre glass, is provided in its bottom with reinforcing ribs and has moulded therein, rigid elements, from which extend feet 17. Mild steel reinforcing strips 20 are moulded into the closures 12.
