Abstract
1,119,102. Latches. ROSS BURNET Inc. 11 March, 1966, No. 10736/66. Heading E2A. A latch-actuating mechanism includes a lever, a touch-plate 37 spaced from a mounting plate 17, connecting means between the plates, the connecting means including a T- shaped lever 34 and means forming a chamber to receive the head portion of the lever and resilient means supporting a plunger in contact with the connecting means. As shown, a slidable latch bolt 14 is actuated through a plunger 15 by one or the other of a pair of levers 25, 26 pivotally mounted in extensions 20 of respective mounting members 17, 18 and operated by a spring-loaded plunger 30 which can be depressed by the lever 34 projecting from a frame part 32 and to which is attached the touch plate 37, the arrangement being such that the levers 34 are pivotal about either end 35 or 35a or are movable bodily inwardly of the frame part 32 by the touch plate 37. to depress the respective plungers 30. In another arrangement. Fig. 3 (not shown), the frame part 32 is replaced by a housing secured to the mounting member by concealed screws.
