Abstract

1,245,178. Push button mechanisms. GENERAL MOTORS Ltd. 19 March, 1970 [2 April, 1969], No. 17297/69. Heading E2A. An automobile-latch push-button mechanism comprises a housing forming part of a door handle 2 for example and having a non- circular bore 4 therein, and a push-button 1 slidably mounted in the bore 4 and having an off-centre projection 11. An integral undercut guide 8, formed on the push-button 1, fits within an under cut channel 9 formed in the bore 4; alternatively the push button 1 may be provided with an undercut channel and, the housing may be provided with an undercut guide. In use the pressing of the pushbutton 1 moves the projection 11 to actuate a latch (not shown); a spring 5 being provided to return the push-button. A key-operable lock cylinder 6 is provided in a central bore 7 of the push-button 1.
