Abstract
916,974. Door furniture. MARCANTE, A. May 19, 1959 [May 23, 1958], No. 16992/59. Class 44. Door furniture for push-button type locks comprises a rose plate 4, a knob 1 having a shank 2 for non-rotatable, but adjustable sliding engagement with the rose-plate, the knob being adjustable with respect to a fixed part of the lock by means of an abutment on the shank which is engageable with the fixed part to locate the shank and fixed part in their required respective position. As shown, the shank 2 of the handle 1 is slidably but non-rotatably engaged with the rose-plate 4 before the latter is fixed to a door and is also slidably engaged over a guide tube 8 for a push-button so that a tooth 12 on the shank 2 is engaged by a bayonet-like seating 11 in the tube to ratain the handle on the tube. Additionally, a grub screw 14 is inserted through the shank 2 and into the tube 8. The crosssection of the shank and rose-plate may be other than that shown and in a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), the tube is provided with two bayonet-like seatings to permit its use on doors of different thicknesses. In such a case the push-button shaft is provided with means for adjusting its length. In the arrangements, Figs. 8-12 (not shown), the push-button shaft is mounted in either of two positions on a plate secured within the push-button. In another arrangement, Figs. 13 and 14 (not shown), the plate is dispensed with, and the shaft engages the push-button by means of a resilient and screw-threaded U-shaped extension. In a further arrangement, Fig. 15 (not shown), the shaft is engageable by a hookended plate secured within the push-button.
