Abstract
1,255,845. Latches. CANDY S.p.A. 3 March, 1969 [2 March, 1968], No. 11091/69. Heading E2A. The door 15 of a washing machine is interlocked with the energising button 13 by means of a pair of tilting and sliding plates 10, 17. In the energised position, Fig. 1, the button is held down by a detent engaging under a hook 18 on plate 10, but if a dooropening button at 12 is depressed to depress rod 20 to free the latch 21, it returns to a higher position, Fig. 2 in which a projection 26 on it engages a projection 23 on plate 10 to tilt it. Plate 10 leans against plate 17 to tilt it so as to free the detent 19 from the hook 18 and allow the button to rise to switch off the current. In addition, the plate 17 is freed to move axially under the pressure of a return spring (not shown) so that it blocks the downward movement of the detent 19 to prevent re-energisation, and it itself prevented from returning by a limb on the tilted plate 10.
