Abstract
1331246 Mechanical switches; retractive switches; momentary-contact switches GENERAL CORP 18 Dec 1970 [18 Dec 1969] 60311/70 Heading H1N [Also in Division H2] A push-button switch for ensuring that one pair of contacts 28, 29 is opened before a second pair 33, 35 or 33, 36 is closed, comprises pushbuttons 12, 13 biased away from a casing 18 by springs 19, 20 and a slidable plate 22 biased by a spring 23. Depression of the push-button 12, for example, causes a projection 14 of a member 16 attached to the push-button to engage a cam surface 24 thereby laterally displacing the plate 22. A forked projection 30 attached to the plate 22 moves the flexible contact 28 away from the fixed contact 29. Further movement of the push-button then causes the contact 33, which is pivoted on a member 34, to be pressed into engagement with the contact 35. When the projection 14 enters a notch 26, the plate 22 moves back in the opposite direction to enable the contacts 28, 29 to be re-engaged.
