Abstract

1332889 Latches STANLEY WORKS PTY Ltd 25 May 1972 [25 May 1971] 24779/72 Heading E2A A latch comprises a plastics moulding consisting of a first portion 11 and two further portions 12, 13 connected thereto by flexible strips 16, 17, the first portion 11 defining a recess into which the portion 12 is pivotable and the further portion 13 being pivotable against the first portion 11 to provide a bottom to the recess to form a housing and with a pair of lugs 28 to limit outward pivoting of the further portion 12 which is the bolt pivotable from a position in which it extends from the housing to a retracted position within the housing. The first portion 11 has side flanges with apertures with bosses 20 which engages in apertures 22 in the portion 13. A spring 24 is fitted in a seat 26 of the portion 11 and engages a plate part 27 of the portion 12 to urge the part against the lugs 28 and to urge the bolt outwardly. A plunger 33 extends through an aperture 23 in the portion 13 and engages the plate part 27. Pressure on a push button attached to the plunger and extending through an aperture in a door handle 31 releases the latch from a striker 34 on a door jamb 35.
