Abstract
111,884. Garbutt, W. O. Dec. 8, 1916. Variable-speed and reversing friction gearing. - Relates to friction gearing arranged to provide a reverse drive and a fixed or variable speed. The disks F<1>, F<2>, which may be spring-pressed, bear on wheels G, H, which may differ in diameter and be slidable on driven shafts G<1>, H', to vary the speed. The shafts G', H<1> are divided and provided with sprockets G<2>, H<2> connected by an open chain L and with alternately acting clutches G<3>, H<3> to provide a reverse of the shafts.
