A gas-fired heater comprises a burner 3, a heat exchanger 4, 5 and an electric fan 13 connected via a pipe 14 to an air supply duct 18 which extends away from the heater in close proximity to an exhaust duct 19 connected to the outlet 6 of the heat exchanger by a pipe 17, the ducts 18, 19 terminate at a flue terminal situated in an outside wall. The pipes 17, 14 are arranged to have outlets at either end of the heater adjacent the base thereof. The ducts 18, 19 may comprise circular or rectangular crosssection pipes within a casing 20 shaped like a skirting board, alternatively the casing 20 may be divided by a partition so as to provide the two ducts 18, 19, or the casing 20 may form the inlet duct 18 with the outlet duct 19 running therein (Fig. 4, not shown). The heater also has a fan 12 for forcing air to be heated over the heat exchanger 4, 5, and a short duct 10 extending through a wall 8 to an adjacent room so that two rooms may be heated simultaneously, control means being provided to vary the relative distribution between the two rooms. A by-pass duct 21 supplies air from the fan 13 direct to the exhaust outlet 6 so as to reduce the amount of condensation in the flue duct 19.
