Starting. - Actuating - mechan ism for a relie valve comprises a tubular extension E, a dividec collar G retained thereon by a groove F and boll H. a transverse lever I pivoted to the collar and having an enlargement N engaging the valve stem, and a Bowden mechanism, the wire K of which is clamped in the collar G by a set-screw L while the casing M abuts against the lever I. The valve may have a passage P leading to the exhaust pipe as described in Specification 102,002, [Class 7 (ii), Internal-combustion engines, Arrangement &c. of].
