Abstract
1,115,234. Discharge tubes. CSF COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. 28 April, 1966 [4 May, 1965], No. 18623/66. Heading H1D. A magnet structure for use with a cylindrical, gas-filled, crossed-field discharge tube rectifier includes two spaced rims 11, 12, Fig. 1, which surround the tube, and two sets of mutually interposed fingers 12, 14 each extending parallel to the tube axis from a respective one of the rims, and a number of horseshoe magnets (16, Fig. 3, not shown) attached between a pair of adjacent fingers to provide a reversal of polarity from one finger to the next. The rectifier of Fig. 1 has anode 1 and cathode 2, the magnet arrangement ensuring greatly increased electron path length during one half of the applied A.C .
