Abstract
1,107,103. Rotary vane pumps. H. TEVES, E.A. TEVES AND M. TAUSEND [trading as ALFRED TEVES MASCHINEN-UND ARMATUREN FABRIK KOMM. GES.]. Aug. 5, 1965 [Nov. 5, 1964], No.33567/65. Heading F1F. A rotary vane pump that may be reversibly driven whilst maintaining the same direction of pump delivery, comprises a cam-plate 12, Fig. 1, mounted via an anti-friction bearing 13 in a bearing ring 14 and fitted with a stop 28 engageable with one or other of two abutments 29 at the ends of an arcuate recess 32 in the bearing ring 14 extending over about 90‹. Pump discharge pressure is supplied to beneath spring-loaded vanes 10 slidably mounted in radial axially-extending slots 33 in the rotor 7' and to an axial bore 26, Fig. 2 in the rotor shaft 7 in which a spring-loaded piston 25 constituting a hydraulic accumulator is mounted. On clockwise rotation of the rotor 7', hydraulic pressure in the slots 33 causes friction between the ends of the vanes 10 and the cam surface of the cam-plate 12 to rotate the latter until the stop 28 engages the left-hand abutment, the pump then operates to such in liquid through the intake 2 and orifices 20, 21 and to discharge through outlet channels 22, 23 to the pump discharge 6. On reversal of rotation of the rotor 7', the accumulator augments the pressure in the slots 33 to increase friction between the vane ends and the cam surface so that the cam-plate 12 rotates anti-clockwise in the direction of the arrow until the stop 28 abuts the right-hand abutment 29, with the liquid still being sucked in through the intake 2 and discharged through the discharge 6. The diametral disposition of the working chambers 17, 18 provides hydraulic balance of the pump. A non- return valve 31 is provided in a channel connecting the slots 33 with the discharge 6 to ensure that the vanes 10 are in frictional contact with the cam surface during pump reversal. Excess lubricating oil from the main bearing 34 returns to the intake chamber through channels 15, 15'.
