Abstract

Dynamos, driving.-In a portable lamp, both strokes of a rack 5, produced respectively by pressure of the thumb and by a spring 7, drive a rotary armature 2 in the same direction. The rack is double and gears with two pinions 10, 11. These have free-wheel connexions to their parallel shafts 12, 13, either by means of internal ratchets and pawls or of ratchet teeth on the spring-urged pinions 10, 11 and on wheels 14, 15 which gear with a common pinion 16. One shaft 12 bears the armature or is geared thereto by a wheel and pinion 17, 17<a>, or by a cord pulley. When out of use, the rack can be held down by a catch. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 9934/15.
