Machines with two armatures. - Relates to electric starting gear for internal-combustion engines geared to dynamos, the electric motor and the dynamo being mounted in one casing. In the arrangement shown in Fig 1, an electric starting-motor b drives the engine through the dynamo spindle d by means of sprocket. wheels l<1>, h and chain gearing and a pawl and ratchet-wheel arrangement l, i. A wheel o on the dynamo spindle gears with a wheel on the engine crank-shaft. In a modification, the motor and dynamo shafts are at right-angles and are connected by bevelgearing and ratchet mechanism. In another arrangement, the shafts are in line and are connected by pinions, an internally toothed wheel, and a ratchet arrangement. Reforence has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1174/14, 3295/14, 16080/15, [Class 7 (v), Internal-combustion engines, Starting &c.], 108,620, and 136,765, [Class 7 (v), Internal-combustion engines, Starting &c.].
