Abstract

1,104,706. Wrap-around cartons. CONTINENTAL CAN CO. Inc. 20 April, 1965 [17 April, 1964], No. 16471/65. Heading B8C. Pairs of opposed displaceable flaps 53, Fig. 1, in top folds 16, 19 of a wrap-around carton for cans engage the peripheral seams round the upper ends of the cans. The lower seam of each can is engaged between a flap 29 cut out of the base panel 11 and an opening 32 in the bottom folds, reinforced by a tab 35. The carton is closed at the top by a tongue (25), 26, Fig. 4 (not shown), and slot (20). A substantially V-shaped keel (45), Fig. 2 (not shown), formed by folding the blank at (40), Fig. 4 (not shown), and (41) keeps the upper ends of the cans spaced apart in the carton and engages the rims in cut-out portions (47). Finger holes 57 can be formed in the top of the carton.
