Abstract

1,099,872. Coaxial connectors. AMPHENOLCORPORATION. April 13, 1965 [April 13, 1964], No. 15804/65. Heading H2E. A connector for coaxial radio frequency transmission lines comprises a tubular conductive body 10 having a contact portion 11 containing an insulating insert 16 with a bore 19 terminating in a counterbore 21 to provide a shoulder for a locking flange 55 on the central contact 52. As shown, a rigid plug contact 52 is soldered to the central cable conductor 49 and is pushed through the insert 16, which is of polypropylene and crimped at 17 within the body 10, until the cable dielectric 48 abuts the insert and the shoulder of the countebore snaps behind the contact locking flange 55. The braided outer cable conductor 47 is secured over a tubular extension 12 of the body 10 by means of a crimping sleeve 44. A bayonet-type coupling ring 27, loosely held on the body 10 by a split washer 33, secures the plug to a socket connector of generally similar construction (Fig. 4, not shown) and a spring washer 36 and grommet 37 ensure a secure, sealed joint.
