Abstract

1,099,823. Two for one twisters; package building device. JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd. Sept. 7, 1964 [Sept. 11, 1963], No. 35885/ 63. Heading DID. In an inflow, two-for-one yarn twisting machine wherein the yarn is delivered by feed means such as haul pulleys 44 to a traverse mechanism which lays the yarn in cross wind on a conical package 46; the length of the yarn path between the let-off point of the yarn feed means and the point of lay on the package is varied during each traverse cycle by cam means in such a way that the tension variations in the yarn due to the variations in yarn path length between the let off point and point of lay in the package and also the variations due to the changing speed of take-up as a result of the conical shape of the package, are minimised. As shown between the haul pulleys 44 and package 46 the yarn passes through a guide 82 attached to a cam 22 which is vertically moved by a cam follower 24 which is reciprocated linearly by the scroll roll (50), Fig. 5 not shown, which reciprocates the traverse guide 54, but 90‹ out of phase therewith. The way in which the shape of the cam may be calculated to provide the necessary compensation is described.
