Abstract

A hose coupling for simultaneously interconnecting a plurality of hoses comprises a pair of housings 6, each having a recessed end in which a plate 1, having a number of bores 2 arranged in concentric circles for receiving a plurality of hoses or hose bushings 3, is detachably secured by a split-ring 5 carried in a peripheral plate edge groove 4 and by a spring ring 12 engaging a groove 11 in the housing. The housings are coupled by screws 20 extending through clearance holes 21 in a flange 8 on one housing and engaging threaded holes 22 in a complementary flange on the other housing. Alternatively, a coupling nut engaging a projection on one housing may be screwthreaded to the other housing. An eccentric guide pin 25 is provided on one or other of the said plates and a gasket having a plurality of bosses 28 corresponding to the holes in the plates 1 is clamped between the plates. Housing endpieces 17 of tapered form and having a metallic sheath 18 accommodating the hoses to be coupled are detachably secured to the housings by spring rings 15. Holes 23 in one housing flange permit securement to a switchgear cabinet or machine. Coupling halfs may be preassembled, each with hose sets of a different length to suit various installations. One housing (29), Fig. 2 (not shown), may be of angled or elbow shape. When it is desired to fix the coupling to a wall, Fig. 2 (not shown), the angled housing (29) is mounted on one side of the wall (32) and is secured to an intermediate ring (33) bolted to the flange of the other housing (6). In this arrangement, the ring itself detachably receives one of the plates 1 in the manner described.
