Abstract

1,093,646. Stop baths. EASTMAN KODAK CO. April 22, 1965 [April 27, 1964], No.17021/65. Headings G2C and G2M. A stop bath for use in the formation of photolithographic printing plates by the process of Specification 978,744 or 979,577 comprises an aqueous solution containing 1-15% of a norbornylene glycol and 1-10% of an acid or acid salt having a dissociation constant of 1Î10<SP>-2</SP> to 1Î10<SP>-5</SP> such as phosphoric acid, an alkali metal dihydrogen phosphate, acetic acid, glycollic acid or citric acid. The stop bath may contain a buffer salt and an organic solvent e.g. ethyl alcohol or 2-ethoxyethanol. The bath renders the constrast between the oleophilic areas in the finished plate more pronounced.
