A building structure such as a bus shelter for passengers comprises a plurality of T- section vertical bars 11 alternate ones of which extend from the foundation to the roof with intermediate ones 11' extending from the roof down to a horizontal bar 14 interconnecting two adjacent long bars 11 intermediate the ends thereof, the bar having minor and major flanges 33, 32 respectively at its ends secured to the free ends of raised portions 17 of the bars 11. the flanges 32, 33 'being parallel to the axis of bar 14 the minor flange 33 being displaced from the axis of the strip 14 a distance equal to the height of the raised portion 17 of the bar 11 and the major flange 32 being so displaced by the same distance plus the thickness of the minor flange 33, so that adjacent interconnecting bars 14 can be arranged coaxially with their ends overlapping as indicated in Fig. 4 and secured by screws &c. passing through coincident holes in the overlapping flanges and into the portions 17 of the bars 11. The intermediate portion of the member 14 is of channel section with one limb 23, Fig. 3, greater than the other limb 24, and the limb 23 has a leg 25 to clamp a sheet metal panel in the portion of the shelter below the bar 14 between an arm 36 of a T-cover strip 28 whose web 34 is received in the channel of bar 14 while the said other and shorter limb similarly clamps thicker glass panels in the part above the bar 14. The portion of the vertical bars 11 between the horizontal bars 12, 13, 14 is provided with a cover strip 18, Fig. 2 having its shoulder portions 19, 20 reinforced by L-shaped pieces 19', 20' welded thereto and the cover is secured by screws 21 in the raised portions 17 of the bars 11. A modified astragal (Fig. 5) for roof plates with turned down edges is described.
