[Also in Division F4] Apparatus for treating textiles comprises a stationary casing, a drum rotatably mounted in the casing and divided by an internal partition into completely separated longitudinal compartments, and circumferential sealing means between the drum and casing. As shown, a washing machine comprises a stationary horizontal cylindrical shell 10, an inner perforated drum 11 journalled by means of an end shaft 30 in shell 10, a door 13 at the other end of shell 10 providing access to drum 11, a partition 14 in drum 11 dividing the latter into an inner compartment 18 and an outer compartment 19, a circumferential sealing flange 21 on drum 11 co-planar with partition 14, and a circumferential sealing ring 20 on shell 10 cooperating with flange 21. Partition 14 comprises a rigid outer ring 15 and flexible inner portions 16 interconnected 'by sliding clasp fasteners. Various forms of circumferential seals are described. The inner compartment may be imperforated and may be supplied with liquid or hot air by a duct co-axial with shaft 30. To prevent the textile articles from adhering to drum 11, the latter when slowing down is speeded up on one or more occasions.
