Abstract

Textile material is passed in multi-layer open-width form through a bath of an organic solvent at its b.p. for removal of grease and the like. The material may be of cotton, linen, regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate, wool, nylon, polyester, polypropylene, or polyacrylonitrile. The solvent may be trichlorethylene, tetrachlorethylene, or 1, 1,2-trichlor-1, 2, 2-trifluorethane. Residual solvent may be removed by means of rollers, hot air, steam, or hot water.
