Abstract

1426076 Washing machines HOT POINT Ltd 29 Jan 1974 [29 Jan 1973] 4399/73 Heading D1A [Also in Division F4] A resilient sealing member 14 for preventing articles from entering the passage 34 between front openings in the drum 3 and tub 1 of a horizontal-axis washing machine is adjustable in position to adjust the clearance x between the sealing member 14 and the drum opening. As shown a selected one of a number of annular grooves 23 of the sealing member is mounted on a radial flange at the front of the tub 1. The door 15 is preferably eccentrically mounted with its axis above the centre of the opening in the drum, so that it may be opened when the drum is full of water, when the eccentric sealing member has stiffening ribs 41. 42.
