Abstract

1317588 Washing machines BLACKSTONE CORP 18 May 1970. [20 June 1969] 23960/70 Heading D1A To prevent wash liquid from running down the outside of the outer fixed tub 14 of a washing machine with a rotatable inner basket 15, a cover is provided comprising a vertical wall 23, an outwardly extending flange 21 engaging the rim of the tub 14, an inwardly and downwardly extending flange 28 and a well 25 communicating with the inside of the tub 14 through an aperture in the rim 21 and with a conduit 27 outside the tub 14 through a discharge outlet 26. The well 25 may have a roof part 25a when it will act as a siphon. The washing machine also includes a water inlet 18 and a perforated screen 31 extends from the wall 23 to adjacent the inner basket 15 to prevent laundry from falling between the basket and tub.
