Abstract
Steel which has been clad with a light metal is heated, possibly by induction, while the clad face is cooled, the conditions being such that the bulk of the steel is heated to above 540 DEG C. while the zone of the bond does not exceed 525 DEG C. Cooling may be effected by protective gas, compressed air or water, or by contact with a cooled metallic or non-metallic plate.
